The Hawkevale Trust

Personal Support Services

The Personal Support Service (PSS) is a life-long visiting and advocacy service that ensures a disabled family member is visited on a regular basis and their quality of life is maintained. Individual needs are monitored, including:

Families can establish a PSS with The Hawkevale Trust that becomes active when there is no longer a parent or family member able to look after the needs of the disabled person.

How it works

The Hawkevale Trust has a team of experienced and trained volunteers, many of whom have direct experience with disabled family members of their own. A PSS is agreed in advance and when the time comes, a volunteer is assigned to conduct regular visits every two months, unless otherwise arranged.

Volunteers are subject to a careful selection process and if preferred, families may nominate a person who is known to the disabled family member to work with the Trust in making regular visits.

Following each visit, a report is provided to The Hawkevale Trust and any issues are addressed by the Executive Officer or Board. The Trust also keeps family members informed on the wellbeing and progress of the disabled person.
