Future Living Program
The cost of creating 8,000 accommodation places (at an average cost of $50,000 per person) would require an extra $400 million in disability services funding Australia wide.
The Hawkevale Trust has an exciting vision for the future that will ensure a substantial contribution is made to the quality of life of Western Australians with intellectual disabilities, their families and carers.
The Future Living Program represents The Hawkevale Trust's first major fund raising campaign, aimed at raising $500,000. All funds will be contributed directly into housing and investment programs that will enable the Trust to provide WA families with independent accommodation for people with disabilities, and to fund additional Trust services.
Funds combined with Government assistance to accelerate housing
With this capital base, The Hawkevale Trust will accelerate its housing program. The funds will provide necessary capital for construction of homes to suit individual needs, with or without a contribution from the family.
The Trust can increase the value of the Future Living Program by leveraging Government housing programs. This broadens the application of the Trust's money, while retaining ownership of the home within The Hawkevale Trust for use by other families in years to come. The Government and the Trust share ownership of the house but the full rental is retained by the Trust. In this way, more housing is made available than could be using the Trust's resources alone.
The Hawkevale Trust becomes self-funding
Rental income from the resulting base of properties will see The Hawkevale Trust become a self-sufficient operation, free from dependence on grants to fund its operations. The outcome will mean lifelong accommodation for more people with disabilities, peace of mind for their parents and security for the future of The Hawkevale Trust.
